A Day I'll Never Forget

I remember the day we were attacked. I remember the weather, I remember what I was doing, where I was going, and how I felt. The one thing I don't remember is the amount of times I cried that day and ever since while remembering. Tears have poured out for complete strangers who lost their loved ones and I still cry whenever I think about that time.
I don't know anyone who lost a friend or family member in those attacks. All I do know is that I cry because no matter what, we are brothers and sisters- it doesn't matter what political views we have, what color we are, what religion we belong to, or what country we live in. We are all here on this earth together. There is so much hate in the world and I don't know if it has always been this way or if it just gets worse as time goes on. I'd love to protect my son and my little family from all of it, but I can't.

I love this quote by President Hinckley-

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

I believe that with all of my heart, and I do know that there is also a lot of love in this world as well. I don't think I've prayed as hard in my life as I did those 15 months my husband was gone. Both times he came home, I knew the Lord had heard my prayers. I'm so proud of this country and for the men and women who do everything they can to protect it- the people in uniform as well as those who have been doing their jobs so we wouldn't be attacked again. I'm so grateful.

I've been listening to some of the family members at the 9/11 memorial in NYC today and I heard a wife of one of the victims ask us to never forget. I won't.

That was very poignant and touching. That's for expressing what we all feel--you made me cry.
